50th Anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis

In October, 1962, the United States and the Soviet Union were engaged in the most dangerous incident of the Cold War-a showdown over the placement of Russian offensive nuclear weapons in Cuba. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis, we will bring the story of this extraordinary event to Wings over the Rockies on October 13th with two featured events. Our youth seminar will look at the dramatic confrontation that occurred when the Soviet Union began placing nuclear armed missiles in Cuba. Scheduled from 2:15 PM to 3:30 PM, this high school level seminar will bring together students, educators, and veterans who participated in the significant events of the Missile Crisis.
